Today is the 16th anniv. of my man's passing. I remember the day i found out he got shot and i was heartbroken man and i was listening to his music at the time as well. It was hard for me back then to realize that i will never hear from or see him again. And i want to admit that i kinda took Biggie for granted back then. I was a huge fan of his no question, but i remember back in 10th grade in '96 me and my friends was at the school cafeteria in the morning waiting for school to start. My friends & I started to get into a discussion into who our fav. rappers of all-time were. One friend of mine said Redman (he was the biggest Redman fan i ever seen til this day), another friend said anybody from the WU. And a couple of others said Biggie plus other names, but when they asked me i said LL Cool J. Now why i said that? At that time LL's Mr. Smith LP just dropped and i was jammin the hell out of that album non-stop! So i went with LL, and my friends was shocked but they didnt dis me cause they knew LL was a legend at the time. But when BIG died i completely changed my steez, i decided then i that had to dedicate my love to hip-hop to him to make sure i get anything this man had done music wise. I took him for granted back then, i always knew he was gonna be there so i just took it for what it was. So when he died i was heart broken cause his style was my ideal for a rapper to be. One that rhymed to his fullest potential and had crazy style plus he was a cool nigga. If this man was alive today he would be so high on a pedestal it would be ridiculous! The way we view Jay Z now as the greatest, Biggie would be viewed in a even higher light! He would for real be a living legend! Even when im in my 40's & 50's i will rep for BIG and show my kids and grand-kids what a real true hip-hop/ rap artist is! Enjoy this mixtape i put together and jam this today in honor of my man!
